For almost 4,000 years, Jerusalem was confined to the walled city. Only 150 years ago Jerusalem began to expand beyond its walls fulfilling the prophecy, “to the right and the left you shall burst out”. We will explore the first pioneering neighborhoods built beyond the walls including a tour of the Mahane Yehuda Market.

- 9 am Meet in front of the YMCA
- The Windmill: an idea for economic independence
- Mishkanot Sha’ananim: Jerusalem’s first neighborhood outside the walls
- Walk behind the King David Hotel with it’s intriguing strories and fascinating architecture
- Machane Yisrael – the 2nd neighborhood built oudside the walls
- Nachalat Shiva – 3rd neigborhood outside the walls

The first neighborhood beyond the walls - Mishkenot She'ananim
- Beit David – the 4th neigborhood and home of Rav Kook, first Chief Rabbi of pre-State Israel
- Nachalaot including the home of Rabbi Arye Levine
- Rooftop view of Shuk Mahane Yehuda – Open-air Market
- Enjoy the sites, sounds and aromas of the market.
- Tour concludes at Mahane Yehuda at 1 pm
